The whole process is amazing. Were lucky ice is lighter than water and cold water is heavier than warm. Just think of the consequences otherwise.


I see Round up the Gunflint is ice free and Moose by Ely should be sometime today. ice cubes left

In fact, if that weren't the case, life on this planet, if it existed at all, would look very, very different.

Cold water is heavier than warm makes sense to me. Water may be the only thing that expands as it gets colder and thus ice is lighter than water. Science has not yet to my knowledge offered a conclusive reason for that. Do you really think all the above is a lucky coincidence?
