Thank you Lundojam! You probably saved many acres of forest. And thanks to your beautiful wife, too!

A few years ago in Quetico we came upon a campsite and saw smoke coming out. Smoldering a lot of places including the base of a couple of trees. Of course we put it out but had no way of knowing who the perps were that were so irresponsible.

This was likely minutes from being a large uncontrolled fire in the BWCAW. Thank goodness for the bucket brigade. Click here for Joe Friedrichs report from WTIP Radio in Grand Marais. Fire

That is a great story. That is an area of some of the best old growth Left up there. Not so long ago my bother and I spent an entire day dousing a fire smoldering in the quetico. I understand that fire and wind damage is a part of the forest ecology in the north woods, but I think the bwca has seen enough devastation for the next decade or so.

.... I am slow.... took me a while to make the connection.... couldn't figure out the "handsome" and "beautiful" comments without a picture of the two of you in the story!!!

Hooray for you two and hooray for the woods too! My dad and I were fishing the UP once and the area had been devastated by fires. We were driving through a burned area and a fire had restarted in burned woods. My dad ran to it to fight it while I drove to the fire station to alert the firefighting crew. I didn't want to be seen as hysterical, so I calmly told one of the firefighters and lawdy, did that ever set off men running and screaming and trucks burning rubber.
