I could have bumped an old thread, but decided to start a fresh one.
Wisconsin does not require the registration of canoes. Do I need to have my canoe registered in Wisconsin to be legal in Minnesota?

From my understanding you do not have to register your canoe in your home state to be legal in MN. Nor do you have to register your out of state canoe in the state of MN to be legal.

The rules changed recently on this. Out of state canoes only need to adhere to the registration requirements of their home state. If you do not need to register them in your state you do not need to register them in MN as long as the canoe is not in MN for longer than 90 consecutive days.

Thanks for the information. I looked at the Minnesota boating laws and it said:
"Exceptions to this law are as follows: • Watercraft currently registered in another state and not kept in Minnesota for more than 90 consecutive days."
The word "REGISTERED" was the question mark for me. Wisconsin does not require canoe registration.

I renewed my wi license again anyway. Might do the Iowa River this fall...and it seems Iowa requires registration but don't hold me to that.
