A few times this year there have been people coming in to pick up a permit where they were not the designated leader on the permit.

They were a member of the group, but when the leader made the reservation, ended up not being able to take the trip (they did not put other names as alternate leaders) and thus the permit could not be issued to anyone else and the permit was no good to anyone. A few times I have had to see what other permits were open for that same day so the group had a place to go, even if it wasn't where they had planned on going.

So, just a word to the wise, the permit reservation form allows you to put up to 4 names total on a permit, so try to do so. If you only have 2 people, put your partner's name on it, if 3 people, put all three, etcetera.

We issue a lot of permits here for the public (not just our reserved customers) and get this issue enough that I thought I'd mention it here.

Very good point. We always list as many people as possible. It's always possible for a trip leader just to get sick.
