We bought one last year the 1st week of August from VNO in Ely. They had several for sale.

When do outfitters start selling their used canoes?
Do any have inventory and prices listed yet?
What are peoples thoughts on this process? Tips Tricks? Recommendations?

Piragis takes deposits early for end of season pickip, or use to. The outfitter I always go to seems to start mid to late September - I think its when they have time to prepare and do it. Most seem to have them in October.

When the busy season ends, around the time you no longer need permits, they seem to catch their breath and do inventory and put canoes for sale.

Like someone said, a simple “I’m interested, what do you think you’ll have?” email won’t hurt.

Check Sawbill Outfitters, as well. They usually have used canoes for sale--which are listed on their website.
Early birds get the worms, ya know?

You can check out Piragis's website for used canoes and put a deposit on one, most the popular models are spoken for at this point. Scroll to the bottom, they show how many are available, put a deposit down and pick it up anytime after October 15th.

I purchased a reconditioned MNII from Sawtooth a couple years back, been nothing but happy with it!

I got mine from Sawtooth. They put a fresh coat of varnish on them. I had my deposit in early so I had my choice of what I wanted. I picked it up in late Sept. They were really good to work with. Give them a call.

This was my timing as well. There are some outfitters who don't sell until March or April so if you miss the fall "sale", don't give up hope :). You'll get a second shot at this in the spring.

Should have added that was from Voyageur North in Ely.

Used Wenonah 17s at Sawbill
