Learningtofly	08/21/2018 09:29AM   Last week we entered at EP55. We grabbed the first site on the map. The following day, we made the paddle across Sag. We did it in less than two hours. Weather was perfect. We took a quick break at the first site after American Point. That's when the wind started to pick up. The paddling started to get tough going against the wind. We made our 2nd stop for lunch. Sun was getting really hot and we ended up getting a little lost before the small portage before Monument Portage. Got back on track. Monument was a challenge for sure, but we did it. We all said we wanted to grab the next open site. The wind really started to pick up again. Shoulders were burning from paddling and from the burning sun. Campsites were few and far between and everything was full. We got to the last group of sites before the portage at Knife. It was getting late, around 6pm. We were all tired and hurting. We thought for sure we were going to have camp on the portage because we couldn't go any further. Then these two great guys, Dave and John, offered us a spot at their campsite. They were total life savers. These guys saved our butts and we couldn't thank them enough. The next day, my 11 year old son found two pennies heads up on a log at the campsite. We took that as a sign. Thanks again Dave and John from Wisconsin. I won't root so hard against the packers this year :)
