I'm curious, was the fire lit at the campsite where the dog was lost? Did the dog simply walk back into the site? I think we all could benefit from some info as lost dogs seem to be a yearly occurrence there.
I know itchy's pooch traveled some pretty great distances.

I would also contact the local radio stations.
Ask the outfitters to post a picture discription and last know location. Give them your contact information.

It certainly helped me, whether it directly helped the dog be found or not; we now know about this resource, and since my grandparents go in for about an average of a month every year (they're in their 80s, no less), it's good to know about the different support groups.

So, the campsite they were at is almost on an island (I think some heavy rain years it is an island), so we didn't think she would have been gone far. They did manage to go back in to the site where they had been at over the weekend Wednesday morning, no one was there. Looked like no one had been there over Monday night or Tuesday night either. The dog has some issues with low-light vision (early macular degeneration), so we're thinking she may have simply gotten lost. Either way, my grandparents got to the site about 10 or 11 am, pitched a tent fly (just in case that could help flush her out, it's bright orange and she hides in the tent during most of the day), and then lit a fire in case the smell would guide her. a few hours later, they were starting to give up hope, and facing having to leave (day passes don't allow camping, and overnight passes are not available without advance reservations generally), and they heard the jingling of her collar bells. she opened the tent fly and called out "Claire, Tent!" and Claire just darted past her into the fly and started chowing on the food they had stuck in there...
It's worth remembering dogs are often guided by smell and sound almost as much as sight at times, so if the dog isn't the wandering type (as this was wasn't), presenting familiar smells and sounds might tempt them back to the site.
Now we're just hoping she didn't leave little dog-bombs all over the area. my grandparents did check the site to make sure, but could be just off the trail...

I am the one who lost his dog last fall. Thanks to the vigilance and help from people on here as well as Ely and, most importantly, The Retrievers; I was able to find to be reunited with my dog a month later.
Sounds like you are doing a lot of the same things I did. I'd be happy to talk in more detail if you feel it would be helpful.
The Retrievers are amazing!

She mentioned to me that they had contacted all the outfitters that they normally have contact with, yes. I believe that would be Kawishiwi as well as Spirit of the Wilderness. I'll verify. Some on facebook have suggested contacting the Ely vet as well. I'll be doing that as well.
Yes, the person on Facebook that suggested here mentioned there was at least one case where 3 weeks later someone found a missing dog. Here's hoping!

Thanks for the tips, I'll see if we can reach out to either radio or the retrievers!
Also, it occurred to me to post the actual lat/long of the campsite they were at, as the campsite number may or may not be accurate (on the original map I had that was the camp number, but on some maps it appears on the island to the south).
Either way, the correct campsite is located at 47°55'24.2"N 91°29'12.1"W

I posted this on a few groups in Facebook, and someone recommended I post here. My grandmother was just up at Lake One, stayed at Campsite 1673 (the first one to the right as you enter Lake One). When they packed up 9/3, her dog didn't come back after being let out during the day. If anyone has any information, or sees Claire (the dog), please let us know. Below is her message:
"My miniature Australian Shepherd disappeared this morning, Monday, September 2, while we were packing up to leave Lake One. We were on the first campsite on the right. She is timid and seeks shelter, but she loves the canoe and always came running when we were loading. We searched for three hours all around the area, which is mostly bound by water, to no avail. This is very unusual behavior for her. I am afraid she got caught by her collar or by coyotes or wolves.
She is a tri-color, mostly black and white with a touch of brown. She is short and stocky and might be mistaken for a bear cub from behind. About 25 pounds. Her name is Claire. Thanks for your help in spreading the word and your offer to keep her if she is found until we can connect."
We have a better video of her, but the BB isn't allowing me to post a link to it.

I'm really sorry her dog is lost. Fortunately, we have seen some success stories over the years. Has she contacted Kawishiwi Lodge ? They are the outfitter on Lake One and their cabin guests are often day tripping through that area.
