You probably already read this:

Isabella Ranger Station status

however, it does state that you can pick up your permit at this station. I'd say as a rule of thumb that if you can select this location on the recreation dot gov site as a permit location, then you can pick up your permit there as well.

I am pretty sure you can no longer pick up permits at the Isabella Work Station, I worked out of there until 2003. I believe that they de staffed the work station for permit pickup years ago. I tried to call the Tofte Ranger District today to verify this, but it is closed due to weather. The link provided by Highndry says this.

Note Closed in 2015, that is what I believe to be correct, but contact the Tofte Ranger District. Isabella Work Station is part of the Tofte RD now. 218 663-8060

Does the Isabella Ranger Station still open for permit pick up?

Did you work there when Zeke and Stahl were there?

Yes, Zeke was on my fire engine in the summer and mushed/hauled supplies in the BW wilderness in the winter. I also worked with Stahl when he was in Ely and ran into him in Alaska after he transferred. Zeke was quite the character. Since our district ended at McDougal Lake I also worked with alot of the Ely fire crew.
