Last I heard there was a plan to open a temporary location July 1. Anyone been up there recently know if that’s operational? Will be heading up with the kids shortly and it’s their favorite!

Sorry I was there last on July 10th and it wasn’t open. I think the new opening was on the new place but I didn’t pay attention because I wasn’t going to be back…but sometime in August jogs my mind…don’t quote me on it though.

We just got back from a week on the Gunflint Trail. The new Sydney's location in town is up and running as of LAST weekend... menu posted, people in line, walking away with pizza boxes. they appeared to be putting the finishing touches on the rooftop deck when we went through town two days ago.

Favorite of ours, too, and we were disappointed. We were in Grand Marais on July 7th, and the new temporary location was there, but not open. I heard a man talking who seemed to be involved in the project, and he said they were having electrical problems and the ice cream machine wasn't working. I got the impression that it would delay the opening for some time to come.

I hope you have better luck. And I do hope they rebuild somewhere, and when they do, that it still has outdoor seatin. It is hard to find a place with comfortable outdoor seating in GM.

We ate at the food truck run by Crooked Spoon (loved that place before it burned) and were not overly impressed. It was expensive, and some of the food was really good, but some was just borderline.

Thank you for the replies! Not what I was hoping to hear but not surprised. We were up this spring after the fire so hopefully the bulk of the disappointment for the kids is behind us. We didn’t mention they might be open again when we go back up for this very reason. We usually pre prep and bring most meals with us when we go up, so this info helps us plan accordingly, thanks again!
