Years ago, as a Boy Scout, it took us 6 days to canoe from Hayward to Riverside Landing on the St. Croix River. I think from Hayward to Namekagon Lake (the source) east of Cable is another 30 miles; so I guess it’s possible to do the entire length in 8 days.

We would only travel for around 5 hours each day or up to 15 miles since we were a large group that made hot breakfasts, and it took awhile to break camp. We then stopped by 3pm so we could set up camp again. I can’t remember any layover days. I’m pretty sure the entire length is around 100 miles, so take that and how fast the current is running into consideration.

Has anyone paddled the entire length of the Namekagon River? I'm thinking of doing it w/my kids this summer and am estimating 7-8 days to do it.

How long did it take you?

Thanks for the info. It is around 100 miles, and I was figuring 15 mile days. I might add in one layover (or two shorter days).
