boy would my wife would have liked to se those guys. I think I got a peak at one at Round Springs but it didn't hang around too long....looked shorter than the otters up in NE Wis.

If it was near Round Spring, it probably WAS this family? The section between Sinking Creek and the bridge is where they've hung out and raised litters (is that what you call otter families?) for years. THIS is the typical view I get:

The guy I eyeballed on a log looked like the tail was too short...I was trying to figure out how to call my wife down to look at it when 2 gals with a dog came to the water's edge to look...so whatever that brown furry guy was took off... that picture of yours is really great...thanks for sharing it..

We also see quite a few groundhogs on the river. As a matter of fact, I took this pics at Pulltite a few years ago. You can see, their face is similar to an otter, but they have a short little tail and shorter body. When you just get a quick glimpse, though, they look similar?

Also, quite a few minks on the river. Smaller and different tail, but sometimes can be mistaken for an otter. I got some good pics of these two above Merritt Cave this year:

Looked like a good time, despite the damp cool weather. I'm assuming bugs weren't an issue. I need to add that area to my destination list.

An acquaintance from another board lives in the area and has posted reports that have always made me want to go. He's splitting time between the Ozarks and Yellowstone, so he seems to be getting the best of both worlds.

We did the Current River from Oct 7 to 10th. Stayed at Pulltite CG. Weather on the river was great and we got 4 good day trips in. Just a great place to paddle in the Fall..... It is just amazing to see all those canoe on trailers and busses. Going this time of year a person has the river to himself. With the Senior Pass cost was $8 per nite....showers included.
