Guys I am looking for a dynamite smallie lake in the BWCA to flyfish for a solo trip this summer. I don't really care about walleyes, although if they are present that's fine too. I know people don't like to give up their lakes, but does anyone have any lake ideas for me? Thanks.

I'd gladly give you my top lakes, though through email, not forum style. Not that I don't trust people, it's just that I can't bring myself to freely name names.

Last year my son and I went in on EP 4 to Crab Lake and yes it was a long portage in but I have seen worse. This aria is not great for canoeing, just a lot of dead ends and dead trees but we ended up doing a lot of fishing with our Fly rods.

We hit big on Cummings for small mouth bass with poppers in the AM and at dusk. Especially in the channel in the middle of the lake and between the Northern island campsite and the channel. there were a lot of rocks on the bottom and although the fish were small it was almost a hit every time. We were in this area Mid July.

Watch out this lake gets choppy if the wind comes up.
