I just saw this. This is going to be a weird post.

I'm guessing this is the map case from Boundary Country Trekkers. I'm sure I recognize it. If so, it was given to Ted and Barb several years ago. It was handmade by my friend Bob Christensen. Bob was the man who introduced me to the Boundary Waters and I owe all of my paddling skills to him. He was a carpenter and also taught me how to make my own canoe paddle.

Bob was friends with Barb and Ted. He also built the broken paddle decoration that was hung by their stairway going upstairs in the house. Bob had brain cancer and passed away a couple of years ago.

My first trip to the BWCA was with him leaving from Ted and Barb's. My last trip ever with him was also through that same place three months before he died.

If you haven't sold that map case, I would love to talk to you about it. It has a deep and special meaning. If you have the paddle that was in the house, that has an even more special meaning as I was there when he built it and broke it. I put his picture on this, it is from the last trip we took.
