Was at a buddy’s this afternoon and he inherited an Old Town Discovery 174 that he’s trying to rehab. Yokes were rotted out. Old Town told him they aren’t available anymore but that he could order a different set and cut them down. Neither one of us are too terribly experienced in this department and would love to find something that just “fits” — not to mention, used price would be a bonus.

Let me know if anyone has something they could spare, or other ideas for aftermarket yokes that might fit?

Thanks! Located in Saint Paul but willing to drive up to an hour for the right deal. :)

You should be able to find a suitable yoke online and cut it down. Just remember the old carpentry adage of "measure twice, cut once." And once you have a yoke that fits remember to seal the cut ends with polyurethane well so they don't take in water which will cause them to eventually rot out.

I have replaced many rotted yokes on boats at the nature center where I volunteer. I have the use of a band saw so cutting the yokes to fit is easy since I can trim the ends gradually to get a fit.

I think it takes the 34.5” yoke but I could be mistaken on that. Quick web search does seem to confirm. I will see if my friend can take exact measurements. Thanks for the reply!
