The Gunflint Lodge is nice, but a bit pricey. Have you checked out their fishing packages. They have some good guides, including Jon Schei and Adam Treeful. We never fished Gunflint Lake, but rather Sag or Seagull. I think that Gunflint is considered a difficult lake to fish because of the shoreline drop off. It is well worth the cost for a guide, the first time out on the lake.

Thanks in advance" For trout anything flashy and silver will work, keep moving and look for active fish. Walleye are a different story on that lake, they could be anywhere, but look for areas of current, and transition areas from bays especially on the north end.
