quote mastertangler: "Hooky I won't speak for Schweady but he basically reaffirms my first impression.........its not so much a presentation issue (although I dislike that as well) but rather a reliability issue. Plainly put they look like they could fail........particularly where the swivel is put together. " You got it. Cheap swivel. You experience a bit of sticker shock when shopping for good swivels, but these cheapos can steal a good portion of your day's trolling with having to deal with twisted and snarled lines. |

quote schweady: "quote hooky: "...I did pick up a pack of Lindy Swivel Clips to try this year. " Gracias! I'm going to use them with reaction baits. Can't see them working for anything that's line shy, but pretty sure it won't be an issue with bass or pike. |

quote mastertangler: "quote hooky: "I've never tried those before. May have to pick some up. If they were made by Savage Gear and were $14.99 each, you'd be all over them. ;-) I'll let you know how they pan out. |

quote hooky: "...I did pick up a pack of Lindy Swivel Clips to try this year. " I learned to avoid those way back in my first years of walleye. Very unreliable. If find any still hiding in the various pockets of my insulated flight pants, you can have 'em. |

I plan to find these "hands on" and pick a size. They may be the greatest thing since sliced bread with that round bend! |

I admit to having a strong propensity towards top of the line stuff in pretty much every aspect of my life and that usually translates to high dollar. My wife mocks me saying "oh it has to be the best for Al"...........Probably a good reason why my retirement plan is not where it should be (but by golly I have a dang good sleeping bag lol). |

quote schweady: "quote hooky: "...I did pick up a pack of Lindy Swivel Clips to try this year. " I have been using the speed clips forever. I only use them on cranks and traps, and sometimes topwater. I would not use for tubes, grubs, jigs, senko, fluke, etc, etc, etc. They are dang strong, and I've never bent one out, not even when muscling in 50lb asian carp that have been snagged....... FUN. Later, Geo |

quote schweady: "Looks good. Would you say this is the one? (a 50-pack) I wasn't sure if there were different sizes. Not so sure a guy needs a 50 pak.......although thats a good price. They also come in various colors. I would like black personally. I bet 10 would last a fellow a long time. Size would be the thing which would be hard to figure via a picture. They do sell these at Bass Pro where a guy could see them in person although I don't remember ever seeing black. They are a tad big generally speaking but if ease of use is of high priority these are the ticket............Just squeeze to open................plus I like the round bend they offer which helps with a lures action. So, get rid of the split ring and bada-bing use these........better physics for the knot IMO than a split ring which I generally despise. |
