Looks like cold , rainy weather coming into Ely area. What's that mean for fishing ,any ideas ?

not the best for humans but great for fishing ;) caught some of my nicest fish in the BW during rainy overcast days , bring tarps and lots of rope ;)

That means clothes..........I like to fish when the weather is less than ideal and that means being comfortable to hang in there for long hours even if its a bit nasty out. Oft overlooked is neoprene fingerless gloves........they are a must have. When your hands get cold its pretty much over. I also like a variety of headgear and warm, dry feet........
I am a big fan of spoons during cooler rainy and windy conditions. Set the hook on anything which feels different including slack line. Do not reel your spoon in at a 90 degree angle but rather have your rod pointed not directly at your lure but almost. The windier it is the more this is important. Best to keep any other forces which may influence your connection to your lure out of the scenario.
You can also go with an ultralight approach if its just a calm steady cool misting rain. Go shallow, long casts, light line and original Rapalas..........I like the smallest 3 hook size (J-11 perhaps?) in perch color. Be very quiet, no white hats, yellow rain gear or otherwise "here I am" clothing allowed.

I agree. Once the cold and rain moves through fishing should start to pick up with warmer, stable weather. Try to fish warmer, shallow bays. Fish the north side of lakes. Fish smaller, shallower lakes. Fish moving water coming out of smaller, warmer lakes into larger, colder bodies of water.

My experience with cold fronts and fishing is that it takes awhile (unless a very severe cold front with severe weather) for the fish to slow down (if they were aggressive) and acclimate to the pressure change and frontal passage. Just returned from Crooked and we of course had cold fronts to deal with. Fishing remained very good till about 24 hours after the front(s) passed. The next warmer day after a cold front was the slowest and has been my experience in the past. 2 warm days is what it takes to get them going again imo.
