We pulled out on Friday, June 2 and the smallies were just starting to hit the beds hard. We had four new beds made right at our campsite the evening before we left. We struggled with walleyes a little too but both caught our first lakers trolling on the way out.

Sounds like another great trip. By "a little ways off shore" do you mean far enough out that you could no longer see bottom? Any idea of the actual depth most of the fish were using?

Probably 10 to 15 FOW.

Thanks for the report. I am sorry if I missed it but what route/lakes did you take on your trip?

Caught plenty of 18 and 19 inch smallmouth with a handful of 20 inchers. They weren't on the beds yet, just saw a few beds that were fanned out. You had to go a little ways off shore to find the bigger fish. Nothing but small bank runners along the shore. Topwater wasn't really happening yet, caught a few. Most fish were caught on green pumpkin tubes with 1/8 oz. jig heads and with Bad shad colored RaZors. My buddy did well with ZMAN swimmerZ. My biggest pike was 39 inches. We planned 4 walleye shore lunches for 4 straight days and had little problem making that happen. It was a good average trip!

We did 28 miles the first day to get up there from PP. Then we base camped for the next 5 days. Then it was a 21 mile paddle and portage back down south and base camped for 4 days. Then we moved closer to PP on the last full day and camped there, leaving early on the 12th day.

We caught a bunch in Murdoch. Are these real blue eyes, genetically different?

They were AWESOME to catch and we definitely noticed when we had a normal eye, and a dark, almost BLUE one on the line.

Where were you guys camped.......I wonder if I passed ya, or met ya and didn't know it :) .

WE saw 1 bigger group ( 2 campsites) , and 1 solo guy the entire time we were there.

Didn't run into any other groups camping or fishing. Saw 1 grouped hunkered down in the monster wind on Kawnipi near the Kenny Portage.

Saw 1 groups coming in on Saganagons on the Thursday we left.

I'd say about average, but no, we didn't see a bunch of folks.
