As has been mentioned, high water, cold water, smalleys holding eggs on June30. LOTS of rain the last couple of weeks of June. We had beautiful weather the first two weeks of June, then everything turned cool and rainy. Not a bizarre year, just not a normal one.

I was just on Ensign. Water temps are low, water levels high, and the weather bounces from hot and sunny to cold and rainy all in the span of a couple of hours. There also was a pretty substantial mayfly hatch (darn it!) on the lake and the fish were slapping at them in the evenings.

Can you elaborate?

They should be in Summer patterns by now.

Oops just saw the dates you were inquiring about. According to In-Fisherman they should be pre-summer to summer peak. I've seen water temps from 55 to 65 in that time frame.

quote SouthernExposure: "Thanks for the responses. So would this be a good time to troll shallow running Rapalas over flats and deep runners across humps and points then switch to drifting leeches on a bottom rig or slip bobbers once they are located? I am relatively new to fishing for walleyes, but I am pretty familiar with fishing for smallmouths."
Sounds like a good plan.

I've never seen the water level this high, or water temps this low in my life at this time of year. This is like a normal late May condition.

They are always in this phase.

Post spawn.Wind blown shallows, moving water. Points, humps, reefs. Often on a mud\rock bottom with some weed growth.

At the end of May and early part of June, what phase are the walleyes in and in what type of lake terrain can they be found?
Thanks.

I would think they would be considered post spawn. We found the walleyes mostly in emerging weed growth and moving water during that time this year. There are people on this message board who know much more than I do about walleyes, hopefully they will chime in with their thoughts.
