I've used a clamp on Tite Lok on Kevlar canoes. No problem. That would be my .02. |

August can't come soon enough... Since we're going later in the year than normal, we anticipate more deep water trolling/drifting and I'm planning to buy/bring a rod holder. I've read through all of the other posts about rod holders on here and I think I know what I'm going to pick up, but I wanted to do a sanity check as a lot of the advice is from canoe owners about permanent fixtures and I need a solution for a Kevlar rental. I'll be renting a Wenonah Champlain. I am hesitant about the clamp style rod holders because of the (lack of) rigidity of Kevlar canoes...don't want to risk damaging. The thwart mount seems to make the most sense. When I search online for thwart/rail setup, it seems like the mount and the holder are sold separately by most vendors. I don't know how universal all this stuff is, but if I have to order the mount and the holder separately, I want to (1) make sure I'm picking a mount that fits the thwart and (2) make sure the rod holder (male piece) is compatible with the mount (female piece). Suggestions? Links? Thanks all! |
