Several years ago my brother and I were casting topwater baits along a shore on Budside (Q) Lake. Something hit my Pop-R and instantly snapped me off. While I was cussing out the obvious pike theft and re-tieing my brother kept casting topwater baits along that shore. Wouldn't you know that pike was still hungry and took a poke at my brother's bait. He missed the bait, but the treble hooks hooked together and I got my Pop-R back.

Everyone has a story that's special to them. Here's mine. Several years ago I was Walleye fishing with a friend when I had a tic on my line. I set the hook, wasn't much there but I did hook something. Almost immediately my pole bent in half, my not much now felt like much more. After a short fight I managed to get what turned out to be my largest Walleye to the boat. My friend had the net and managed to bag the fish with it sending it back to the bottom. I again managed to get the fish to the boat and this time we got it in the net. As soon as the fish hit the bottom of the boat it opened it's mouth and out came the 10" northern I had originally hooked. The Walleye wasn't even hooked, It just wouldn't give up the easy meal it found on the end of my line.

a friend of mine found a lure on shore in knife lake and said "the best lure to use is the one you found , because a fish already hit/ate it" he tied it on and 1 cast later the lake took it back again. so he was right ;)

always hang out for a bit after loosing one like this, often they will come back up. my son lost his favorite spook this year on a bass, we saw it a few times trying to shake it before it was successful and he got it back!
Makes for a great story....both times.

I thought I'd share this because it's a pretty cool story.
I brought my Montana buddies to SAN, amazing trip less the rain. Anyway, one day we're fishing by the waterfalls and my buddy hooks a really nice sized pike with his $10 crawfish looking Rapala he particularly liked. As he gets it to the side of the boat, we can see that it has both treble hooks pretty firmly locked into it's face, and SNAP, we watched helplessly as it swam back into the depths.
So... hours go by and the five of us are back at camp. Crawfish-Rapala guy and his buddy go back out fishing and he's swearing, "I'm gonna get that lure back". They were out for a few hours, throwing Rapalas, catching pike and smaller (hoping to catch their first walleyes).
Meanwhile, my trusty, dusty slip bobber and I discover that the walleye have come right up to our campsite shore. I discover this with a HUGE walleye on the hook. I'm freaking out, my buddy is freaking out, and I'm about to gently ski his huge ass up on the shore as my buddy gets in position... and SNAPPP. Same story, beautiful huge guy gently swims away just a few feet from us.
Ten minutes later, my buddy catches the same hugeeee fish and pulls it to a gentler slope with gravel, and POPPPPP, the hook just popped right off his lip. In a moment of super-human speed, I jumped over the fish and over my buddy into the water with my DRY SHOES (OMGGGG) and shovel that bad boy onto shore ice-fishing style. A quick peak into his mouth there's my anodized purple hook. Lol My buddy's first walleye was a 4.6# hog. I told him it might be a while before he catches one that big again. Lol
Half an hour later, the other guys show back up and, sure enough, he had found his Rapala. Said they paddled up to the area, noticed a floating thing and it was his lure. Lol
