Thinking about the eclipse and the lower light situation, I wonder if fishing will pick up during the peak of the eclipse? I wonder if the fish will be tricked into feeding or if they will feed given the lower light? Anyone have any thoughts or facts on this idea?

The fish should bite really well an hour before to an hour after the eclipse, but not necessarily due to the low light for a short period. The moon being overhead at that time will promote greater fish activity and feeding according to the Solunar Tables. It would still be a cool thing to fish during the eclipse to verify it. Maybe the major period and the low light together would kick them into gear.

Many years ago Ted Trueblood wrote a column in Field and Stream about experiencing an epic trout feeding frenzy triggered by a solar eclipse. It fascinated me as a kid, I daydreamed of such an event happening to me. I doubt if I'll go out specifically for the eclipse, but would be most interested to hear reports. Thanks.

Tossed out to deeper water and reeled in. Slowly in weed pockets.... let worm natural wiggle..... fun 1 hour... was it because of eclipse......... I don't know... This lake is always hot....
