Last September I put new braided line on my reels. Used 10 and 15 pound green Spider wire. We fished five to 6 days up around knife. My question is for this Springs trip do I need 2 throw out last year's line and re- spool with new line? Or does the braided line last longer than monofilament?

Braid lasts until it is gone. I only re-spool when I the reel is actually low on line. Just one more reason to use braid... it doesn't get old like mono.

Your good to go until you get a lot of frays which can occur from guides accumulating ice in cold months. Even then I just reverse the line on the spool. I've never replaced a super line from age.

Braid lasts a long time........but it doesn't last indefinitely. That I have learned the hard way. What I like to do is use gloves (fingerless biking, paddling or weight lifting all work fine) and wrap the braid around my wrists a few times and learn the breaking point of the braid being used. Then I test all my knots ruthlessly. I demand 100% knot strength.
When your braid becomes discolored and then starts breaking at the knots before it should, I like to remove several feet of it, maybe even several yards, and try again. if it still fails then remove until you get to freshly colored line to be sure of good stuff
Typically you can get several seasons out of braid but be aware that it can and does get weak, particularly at connection points (knots etc).

A fisherman is only as good as his\her line and the knot they tie.

I have used PowerPro line about 3-4 years or until it goe# bad. You will be fine for a few years.

After three to five years of use I put the braided line on another reel. This reverses how the line was on the previous reel. Now your unused braid that was buried at the bottom of your reel is now at the top. Three to five more years and toss it. I use fireline for spinning reels and cut off any visibly frayed line.

What they said.
I get multiple years out of a spool, and then I "switch sides" like mnpat says, but it will eventually start failing, especially with heavy use. Of course, figuring out when precisely it's getting close can be a little painful, since it's likely to happen (in my case, anyways) on a big fish. :/
Do what MT says, and you'll be fine.
