I will be heading to the Grand Marais area late May through early June.
I'll be using slip bobbers, plain/red hooks, and leeches and jigging with artificial minnows.

I have typically used 3" Gulp! black and silver shad minnows, but wanted to ask if you would recommend other soft plastics for early spring walleye?

Thanks for the information,

I’ve done well with these Cabela’s action tail shad This spring here in Wisonsin. I put them on a long shank jig head, cast them out and just work them over structure . The paddle tail action seems to really get ol’ Walters attention. Of course the Quetico Mike’s recommended Zulu’s/ Z-Man shads are an awesome bait too! They last for ever! I just got a bag of these on this year to try. Authentx PulseR They are meant for a lot of action under a slower presentation. Perfect for cold spring water! Worth a try.
Good luck!

I’ve never done better than a chartreuse jig and a white twister with a leech.

TrailCheif,

Which color did you purchase?
I typically only bring natural colors during the spring months, but see that there are over 20 available colors.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I went with the Great White, PB&J and Chartreuse. White , Purple and Chartreuse have always been good walleye colors for me. Wich one I use will depend on light conditions and water clarity.

Just ordered five packs of these swim baits, they sure look great to me! I'll try them in Quetico early June. Thanks for heads up.
