We always hit up TGO on our trips...fun way to start the trip.
Make sure you ask him where the "hot" smallmouth bite is.

The Great Outdoors has the best selection of crankbaits I have ever seen, it is just annoying how the owner tries to push them on you when all I need are some leeches ;)

Truthfully I have had good success and service from TGO, VNO, and the shop across from VNO which I cannot remember the name.

The Great Outdoors and Voyager North Outfitters have done well for me. VNO has canoe camping gear as they are an outfitter mainly. TGO is a bait/tackle shop.

I've always gone to TGO when I need something in Ely. He's a friendly guy who has everything you need. He fishes the area frequently and posts here frequently on the board as well. What more could you want in a bait shop?

TGO is my stop for bait. Haven't been anywhere else.

My vote is for TGO, and I think it has something to do with the smile that comes with the customer service, LOL! Always an entertaining stop before we hit the entry point.
