The rest of my life....easily. Except for fresh line and maybe a few sinkers.

Heading up tonight for a 7 nighter. This is the first year I haven’t bought anything new...I’ll let you know in a week if it was the right call...my wife thinks so but I have reservations!

I always tell my wife that fishing tackle is cheaper than the therapy to cure it.

They say you can't take it with you but I'm set for the hereafter if you actually can take it with you. :)

Agreed, all in all a fairly cheap hobby. I could certainly make it a couple of years without purchasing anything.......but I won't. My plastics for bass could last probably 6 years now that I fish for them less. Or at least have moved to different types of plastics. Some of the older stuff finds its way into my boys' tackle bags.

Currently accepting donations of fishing gear ;) Just kidding.... no for real... I could probably last maybe a year or 2. Once my wife and I had kids, the budget got skinny for more gear.

How long could you fish with your existing gear without replacing anything if you had to? I just realized that I could easily go a couple of years. I have an armoire full of fishing tackle, reels and line. I might start running out of a few baits in my favorite colors, but I could make other colors work.

I think my grand kids might have to look into replacing some things but I'm pretty sure I have enough for my lifetime as well as my son's. I'd love to see their faces as they are going through my stuff after I die!

Ummm....interesting question. I'd run out of fishing line before anything else. I probably have a few years' worth of that on hand.
If you're talking a *specific* lure -- like a 3/8 oz. bluegill pattern swimjig with a 5'' watermelon grub trailer -- then I don't have all that many back ups of all my stuff, so one night out with especially aggressive pike might have me heading back to Tackle Warehouse.

It is embarrassing.......I could probably go 2 or 3 lifetimes. Its the saltwater equipment which really did me in. I kept upgrading........I wanted to be like the guys I looked up to, the guys who were always high hook out of 20 or 30 other anglers.
Yes the equipment does make a huge difference but you don't know what you don't know...........it took a long time to finally figure out what the right combinations were. And then of course when you have your own center console offshore boat you purchase all kinds of stuff (happy to have sold it, whew!) ........and then there is offshore party boats and 6 paks (6 guys)............and of course I was also very into backcountry as well. Its sort of scary the amount of fishing gear I have. I really need to divest myself and learn about Ebay and sell some of it. My wife is like "what am I going to do with all this if you go before me"

I could go several years. I try to not have much extra stuff, although I do have lures that are 20+ years old. Those just don’t get out of the box much. Like others, would be short on line first.

I could go two or three lifetimes before I would run out of tackle. I have had a tackle sickness for a long time. I see it and I buy it.

Dang, I forgot about monofilament. I have 9 spools left, so about three years.
