We did a basecamp trip out of EP 32 in late June. We stayed on the river system and did very well with eater-size walleyes. I'm to sure where they will be in August, but we had luck around the rapids. We were primarily using jigs and leeches and jigs and plastics.

In my opinion the river is much prettier than the surrounding lakes (Gabbro, Clear, etc). Stay at a site on the river and then daytrip to the lakes if you're not finding fish. My favorite sites in that area are 1129, 1130, and 1131 as numbered on the maps section.

Yup! Caught a couple more around 17 and plenty of other smaller fish. Will post more picture when I get them off of the digital camera

I've only been to this area once quite a few years ago and it was in July. I'm not sure if you are planning to base camp or be traveling a couple of different days to try new areas. There are chances at Walleye all over this area. In August they will be quite deep. Try to focus on pinch points or good structure in 15-25 fow near current. Try jigging below rapids areas for SMB and Walleye. Focus on wind blown points and shorelines in the evenings. I'm a live bait guy so slip bobbers with leeches is my go to if you know an area the walleyes will come to feed at.

We didn't fish much from EP 32 to Little Gabbro. We just made a few casts by the couple of currents areas. The Kawishwi river that runs Northeast from that area is supposed to be very good but I have yet to fish it for myself.

Good luck!

We usually base camp but might move once or twice through a week.

My wife and I are going in at EP32 the second week of August. Being late summer, I'm looking for opinions on whether it would be best to stick to the river or go into the Gabbro lakes. Fishing for walleye. Thanks in advance for any advice.
