I have never fished Basswood after over 50 trips to BWCA. Heading up early October. Thinking about entering Wood and up to Hoist and Back Bays. From what I can tell that’s all motorized, which doesn’t excite me. So some questions:
1. Any input on motor traffic that time of year?
2. Input on fishing. Mainly walkeyes. Big smallies next. Maybe northern, but not terribly interested in a bunch of snakes (yes I know Basswood has big pike but I don’t want to catch a pile of 2 pounders looking for them).
3. There a few campsites in the area. I’d rather not be traveling all around that body of water in October looking for a site. Weather can get nasty fast. Will it be busy? I suspect not.

Thanks

Do you waking up bright and early to gun fire? There is a lot of duck hunting going on in that whole area that time of year.
