Maybe I should have added that we have had very warm weather. It was in the upper 80s last sunday.

That seems a little warm for this time of year. What do you locals think?

Yes it is! Used to fish Vermilion for crappies the last week of September. The water was always 50 to 55 most of the time that time of the year. Sure hasn’t been the case the last several years.

Walleyehunter24 - Was Up Fishing Falls Lake for the first time 2nd week in September and the water was a little to warm yet as the fishing was a little tough. My wife and I camped at the campground and tooled around in a rented Aluminum canoe (ouch!!) wanted too get my wife accustomed to canoeing and camping and she loved it! Hope to get into Pipestone bay and do some fishing next year as looks tough for this year ... although if we have a good weather weekend soon will pop up!

Potential snow at the end of the week with a low of 29 for Friday. Water temps will start dropping quickly.

To add to CityFishers post - will smallmouth come up shallow as the water cools or are they going deeper now? If they do go shallow, around what temp does that happen? What temp will send them back to the deep?

Thanks!

With highs in the low 50’s the next 7 days I’m guessing that water temp should drop as well.

And this snow we just got will drop them a tad more!!"

Ran into my buddy Scott V. at a boat ramp after my last trip to the BW. He saw my license plate and knew it was me so he stood next to my vehicle while I was unloading my canoe. I showed him some pictures of some smallmouth, sent him one via text so he could show Carl.......hahaha.

At what temperature approximately would you expect Walleye to start coming up a bit shallower here for the fall?
