Boo! I tried to get to my spot on Saturday but the park was closed for a youth deer hunt. Fished the Kettle River east of Hinckley instead and my wife got one nice walleye.

Those river walleyes will have the feed bag on for a few more weeks at least.

I love taking my nonfishing friends out this time of year.
Unfortunately they think it is like this all the time.

Well it's that time of year for us southern walleye fisherman. If any of you snowbirds are coming down I-40 over the next 3 months and want to stretch your legs and wet a line just e-mail me.

Water is still 68 down here. Caught a little bit of everything this last Saturday. Bait and fish are still scattered throughout the water column but they are starting to feed. Can't wait for November and December!

The filets all went home with my friends. I know where I can get more.
Just set myself up for a skunking, LOL.

Wow. My walleye fishing on the Mississippi has been halted by.the 4th flood this year. Just drove down by the river and 4 ft waves. Looked like chocolate milk with a double dose of dark chocolate.
Might get out by the dam from shore.

The Miss up here in the Minneapolis area has been tough as well.

Has anyone fished walleye in Missouri in the winter time? Table Rock or something similar? I was thinking that could be a manageable weekend trip from MN.

Either way I'll be fishing walleye from a boat all year. Pool 4!

Yogi, God told him to cast his net on the other side of the boat. ;)

Nice limit right there, well done!

I took 3 days off next week and one will be on the croix between Hudson and Prescott. Any tips? I usually troll crank baits. Thanks!

I got hosed on the St. Croix last week. It was too windy to hold my spot to jig, and I forgot my trolling motor and couldn't go slow enough with my outboard to make trolling work. But man alive were the fish all over my screen.

The fall bite is in full swing here in central MN. I haven't got out as much as usual, but the river was INSANE before the most recent rains, Mille Lacs is still popping, and the remaining green weeds are dynamite for largies and anything else swimming. The best time of year by far!

in the third picture, second fish from the top, it's enormous eye looks like it's literally bursting out of its socket!

Side note -- ever try bleeding those eyes? If you're filleting that many fish it can make an enormous difference. The bigger the fish, the bigger the difference in my experience. Far less mess when cleaning them, the filets come out WHITE -- less bacteria as well.

That might take a while with my 6hp ;)

I'll report how I do downstream this week. Thanks for the tip!

dang jim. you're pretty good at this. I can almost taste 'em. Must be nice to live where the fish in your freezer don't count toward your possession limit.

Wow, that's a really nice sauger. You have quite a fishery there to take advantage of.

Nice catches Jim. Looks like fun. If I remember correctly you like to jig blade baits?

99% of my fishing this time of year is with a blade bait. Occasionally I'll put down a jig and minnow when my arms get sore.

Sounds like interesting fishing. When you have the spots wired and don't have to use search tools (baits/lures) precise presentations are able to be employed.

Have you tried Shiver / snap jigs? Just for kicks you might also try using some Simano butterfly jigs. Whenever I fish with someone who is catching fish I usually like to use something different just to see how it works. Sometimes the big girls can be taken with something different.

Geez, where was that photo taken? You have more snow than we have the the TC area. You are going to have to switch to hard water soon!
