At the end of December, some friends and I will be walking into Jackfish Bay to mainly do some tip ups for pike, but would also like to do some rod fishing for 'eyes. I’ve been spearing there before, but we didn’t make it too far across the lake due to bad weather conditions. This year we will be traveling very light so any input would be much appreciated!

Do you walk in from the Mudro entry point? I have ice fished hoist bay for pike but and had good success with frozen shiners on tip ups and jigging fatheads. I talked to a CO while out there and he said ice fishing for walleye on basswood can be really tough and most people are out there to catch big pike.
