Have fun yogi. Just finished getting the boat all clean and ready, need to rig up my rods. Saw a couple boats out on pool 2 in the twin cities yesterday, planning to get out Sunday with my son. I’m a lousy spring fisherman, never have much luck but always excited just to get the boat wet. I do much better on the river up here from July-September.

Too wet; we're going to look 7-14 days out to burn now. We have about 15 acres of prairie. Another neighbor has a similar amount, and we plan to add another 10-15 acres in the next few years (or very very soon if we can't find a farmer to plant row crops - our previous guy decided to opt out this year).

Yes, have some pheasants - much fun to see and hear them. Not enough to hunt however...my bird dog does get on them from time to time.

Jackfish.
Love that area. Started fishing up there just after high school. I think I'm going to put more time in there.
I'll report how we do..
I guess pulling plastics is getting the bigger fish.

Just returned yesterday and we didn't boat one fish. The wind was terrible. Snow flurries every evening. Thursday sustained winds 20 to 30 and gusts to 50 mph. I will go again. Beautiful area and I'm pretty sure pool 9 holds some fish. Thanks for all the advice Yogi.

Good luck; 9 is a good pool.

May be burning our prairie then, up the hill from Ferryville. Look for smoke signals in morse code saying "send beer"...

If I can get my ducks in a row, I'm going to try and hit sylvan slough this sunday.

Ya Tony we both took it on the chin. That's early spring on big muddy. Even the guide we used a couple days had tough fishing recently
.
I'm going to spend more time up there this spring summer and fall. Less than 3 hrs for me.
Buddy has cabin in Bagley...
Great fishery....
Probably going g to be my destination area for a few years.
Besides BWCA

Hey Yogi... I wish I was going to be home visiting my mother when you're fishing Pool 9. I'd gladly pop down to say hello and wet a line for a while if it worked out.
She only lives maybe 15 miles from Lynxville and 25 from Genoa. If anything changes, I'll reach out to you.

I'd be all over it this weekend if I felt better. I've got all the updates to my boat and trailer done that I wanted so it's time to try it now

Only fished a day and a half. Water came up 3 ft. while we were there. Caught 4 eyes on Tuesday afternoon. Only 1 was a keeper. Wednesday we did not catch a fish.
Current became a problem.
Lot of stuff started floating down making it hard to keep your line free. Woke up Thursday to snow. We decided to pack it up. Arugh. The perch started to bite but my anchor was not big enough to hold us.
..Next 10 days looks like 1 day above normal.

I'm better at bringing beer than catching fish.... just kidding. Lol.
Might be hard to get burning 3 days of rain

How much prairie? I see a few farmers right by me were burning the last few days down here in SE IA. I help with some of them if it works out. Any pheasants in yours?

With the nice weather like this....it's already busy down here. My friend put in at Davenport and said there were 20 trailers mid day today (mid-week)

I'm guessing it'll get busy up there too as people take advantage of vacation time or spring break or whatever it might be if the nice weather sticks around

Wow, I was thinking about you. I wish the fishing and the weather was better for you. Hope to see you in a couple of weeks. Hopefully the weather is better and we fill our live wells with perch, walleye and crappie.

Heading up to fish for four days - March 22 23 24 25. Anyone going to be in the area, or want to be in the area? Meeting my buddy from Minneapolis to fish around the Genoa, Lynxville dams. Primarily Genoa. River and ramps are just opening up.

Cliff, hopefully we can meet up in April. I got the boat ready yesterday. Getting antsy. Long time no fish. When you get time give me a call.

Reports and hopefully pictures. Called up today to check on reservations. Report said they weren't putting the barge in til next Friday., because ice above the dam. Hope it breaks up before next Tuesday....Adam, I was thinking about making a few trips up this summer. The fishing in pool 9 and 10 is much better then the pools down in my area.

Hopefully I'm gonna fish with Blotofish around the 13 14 15 of April. That's my turkey hunting week but I'm gonna bust out early to meet him and his BIL.
