Anyone have recommendations for non-motorized lakes in the metro (preferably north metro)? Looking to do some catch and release fishing from the new canoe this summer!

Phalen is electric only.
Another option is the Sunrise River. Below the north and south pool dams in Carlos Avery wildlife management area. River is full of pike, largemouths, and an occasional walleye. Paddling back upstream is pretty easy also. Kost dam pond is an option also. Can fish the pond itself, or paddle up the sunrise.

Lake of the isles, Calhoun and cedar are all connected. Plenty of bass and bonus muskies to be caught.
Harriet is nice also, good fishing here too.

Add Nokomis to that list. I've caught lmb, walleye, and common carp outta that lake but wouldn't eat anything from it. tiger muskies in there as well.
