Lots of people have asked this question on this forum and I think the consensus is that there likely were Lake Trout on crooked at one point, but that is no longer the case. Crooked is VERY stained, in its current state not super hospitable to lakers/lake trout habitat.

I tried hard on Kawnipi to catch a laker. Want another stab at it too. That North Basin looks like trout territory. I did catch some really nice blue walleyes hanging out in 80’ of water though. 1st time I’ve been disappointed with walleyes.

Yep Crooked is not the right type of water for Lakers. If they were ever present it had to be in small numbers.

Has anyone caught a Laker in Crooked? Thursday Bay and to its north seem to be deep enough. Argo and other lakes proximal to Crooked hold Lake Trout yet conventional wisdom (MN lake finder and fish survey, various books, etc) says no Lakers in Crooked. Whats the deal?
