I forgot about walleye spinner/crawler harness rigs. I just started using them a few years ago and tie my own as well.

Anyone make their own fishing baits? I think I could spend some time doing this. I know a guy that makes his own trout spinners and once knew a guy that made his own musky spinners.

I’ve made hundreds of fly fishing flies over the years. Good hobby to have. I also have made a few hundred walleye spinner rigs. We go through many of these every day with rock snags. It’s way cheaper to tie these over the winter and have them ready for fishing.

I tie my own fly fishing flies. I tied up some ice fishing fly jigs. I've also tied crappie jigs. All the same techniques, just different hook styles.

I've never made any hard baits or poured soft plastics.

Back in the day when live bait was allowed in Quetico, I made my own crawler harnesses. Pretty cool to catch multiple walleyes on a bait that I made myself.

I've tied flies since I was a little kid but don't do it all that frequently anymore. My brother is exceptionally talented so I get flies from him.

A friend of mine makes a lot of his lures including hand-painting them. Beautiful work I couldn't stand to lose one!

Not mine, but my cousin started his own company making/selling swimbaits. https://bigjoshyswimbaits-com.3dcartstores.com/ He's since sold the business, but it's still a great product. I've used them for years here around home (Ohio) and in the BWCA/Quetico. Not exactly a dedicated fisherman, but they work great.

Also when I was a kid, someone my dad knew in FL made hard lures out of Balsa wood, similar to rapalas. Strictly topwater (looked like nothing more than a cuban cigar with hooks). Caught a couple pike though which made the maker happy.

I have been buying blank lures from Amazon, and painting them for 3 years now. Cheap and fun. I also buy cheap walmart spinner baits and put new skirts on them, and occassionally new spinner blades.

The results have been good, I can't really see any difference between the cheap amazon lures and more expensive brand name versions.

I make almost everything I use. Jigs, flies, plastics, harnesses and airbrush cranks.
