Has anyone here ever use the Marcum lx-i for BWCA use?

Yes. A search on this site will bring up multiple threads on this unit. I used it for a few years early on... simple, readable at the top, shoots through canoe hull. It's just a number readout and has an annoyingly loud transducer clicking and the occasional 'fish alarm' sound that can't be silenced, but it works well.
I've since gone to a Hummingbird PiranhaMAX 210 Portable, but a buddy always wants to use my LX-i, so it comes along sometimes.
