A group of us are going into EP 16 July 16-20. Looking forward to fishing. We will base camp on Boulder Bay probably. Make one day trip to Oyster for an attempt at some trout. Other than that wondering any walleye/sunfish/crappie spots/advice.
And if its worth the trip into Oyster for trout? Any info would be appreciated.

By the way, this is an excellent forum, very informative and a lot of helpful posters. Thanks.

Check out the faster moving water between Bottle lake and Iron lake. Did very well that time of year last year for Walleye, Smallmouth, and a few BIG Northern. I know its a bit of a paddle, but it is well worth it!

You may want to check out Never Fail Bay. It has a number of submerged reefs. It was too windy the day we were there to really fish them but the smallie action was great. We just cast into the shoreline. Jigs and Mister Twisters.

Look for cabbage weeds in any of those lakes. Cabbage weeds have curly leaves and are usually fully submerged. Fish right on the edge of this submerged weed bed. It will be about 4-8 feet of water. Fish with mister twister tail spinners, leeches w/slip bobbers, mepps spinners or even a bare hook w/leech and single split shot for weight.

we're doing a similar trip a couple weeks after you. try doing a search for EP16. got most of my intel there. also, be sure to use the map section. good info on the portages and campsites including lat/long coordinates. do a web search for the paddler's campsite database for more lat/long as well
