quote schollmeier: "Nice fish everybody, especially the Musky - it has been too long since I've caught one of those.

I grew up fishing the Miss' for everything that swam - eyes, bass, cats, pike, panfish, etc.

As much as I love the BW lakes, rivers are still my favorite places to fish. I don't fish the Mississippi as much as I used to, but all the rivers I currently fish flow into the Miss' (directly or indirectly)

I've always been a multispecies junkie so rivers are perfect for me, here are a handful of exciting catches of the past couple months

"
Thats Cool, nice variety .

Nice work! You have any stats on the cat? Catstats? Its porky."

The flathead cat was big enough that my fishing partner (who had only caught channel cats before) wasn't too sure about helping me land it... I managed some bloody hands from grabbing it by the jaw before it was tired enough - went 46" X 28" - approximately 45lbs.

I didn't get a tape on the Greater Redhorse, they are on the threatened list in WI so I wanted to get it in the water quick.

The Shortnose Gar I measured off the rod at approximately 29"

The Shovelnose sturgeon I measured off the rod at 32"

Yep, I'll be spending much of the next 3 months fishing the Brule River.

Same spot, same river, couple days later and we had three muskies hooked and leaping while fishing walleyes. Landed one.

WOW Lundojam!! Whats not to like, huge Musky and Busch Light. I'm jealous of your river Hot Spot.

A little fun on a local river, how many river rats are there out there

I'm a river rat, was out on the Great Miami River this morning by 7 AM. Catching smallies on black buzzbaits this morning. I live on the river, my backyard has a levy bank to keep the river from flooding my house.

Been fishing the St. Croix for many years. When I was younger it was the upper portion by canoe for smallies. Lately it's the lower portion by motorboat for walleyes. I love that you never know what you're going to see or catch there. I also fish the Mississippi in the winter. Who needs ice fishing when there is open water in December.

Love to wade fish for smallies, mostly in NE Iowa.

I used to fish the St. Lous (Out of boyscout) quite a bit. You are right, DTrain; you never know what you're going to catch. The day I caught this hog, my father and I almost caught the grand slam: Crappie, Walleye, Northern, Bass, and Muskie

Funny you should ask. I'm in. Snake, Kettle, St. Croix mostly. Caught a few smallies on the Mississippi near the 694 bridge last week, though it wasn't much for ambience. Those Pine County rivers are tough to beat for scenery, variety, and quality. Here are a few pix from a trip to the St. Croix honey hole on Friday. Sorry for the low picture quality, but you get the idea.

They don't call me "Lord of the Wolf" (river in Wis) for nothing. There's something about rivers, always moving, never changing...

Nice Fish BassPro!! I fish any water that holds catchable fish, but river fish seem stronger and fight harder.

like wcummin1, I'm a St.Louis river rat. I also like the rivers on the shore and the cloquet river. I fish the rivers more than lakes.

West Branch of Des Moines River, age 3 on. Just living on one doesn't count, you gotta spend time in it and on it.

28.5 incher. Real solid, strong fish; it didn't look like one of those dinosaur old river fish. I figured I had a cat and was kind of half-assing it for a while until I got a look. Like you say: wow.

I thought it was 30" inches for sure. Mine measured in at 30"...barely. Plan to get a replica done as soon as I get the money.
