Hi Folks,
New to this board and to the BW - making my first trip with a couple of seasoned buddies and I cannot wait for Sept!
We're heading across the numbered lakes into Insula to base camp, going to do alot of fishing. I've read seemingly all that I can find on this board about Insula but I wondered if anyone can tell me if there are weeds or weed beds on Insula? Or is it just rocks, gravel, humps and sand? Also, not looking for handouts, but if you've got a spot you'd like to share for good fishing on Insula or the location of a reef near deep water I'm all ears.

Welcome to the board Whitaker. Go to the map section at the left and click on maps, then Insula lake, then look at the fish symbols. In the north section there is a narrow part that hold Walleyes. Also look for any point that has rocks about 6"-10". They will hold Smallmouth Bass. This lake has so much structure that it will be no problem the find fish. I was on this lake last year and do not remember weeds.

I'm no expert on Insula - just one trip there. But from that experience, it seemed like the southern end of the lake was generally shallower and weedier. Lotsa pike.

All sounding great you guys! Wish we were going to have two weeks to camp and fish in Insula. Hoping to score some girthy pike as well as walleyes to eat and a few bonus smallies.

Ditto snakecharmer. We didn't hit the northern half of the lake, but I recall a couple bays that held weeds, & a few nice ones with a fast drop into deeper water. Find them & hit them if you can!
