I had probably 2-3 years of buying things of sierra trading post after getting the awesome coupons in my email with the 30-45% off your total purchase. I now NEVER get these coupons, is there something going on here?? Anyone have any leads on similar sites to purchase camping equipment/ shoes/ clothes etc at a decent deal?

Sierra Trading Post has "repriced" everything on the website so you don't need the big coupons to be saving the big amounts. All they send out now are 15%-25% coupons that come with bonuses like $.99 shipping if you spend $50 or free shipping with $100. I still find their prices to be the best around on most items, but am also frustrated with the change and number of exclusions they have now.

I shop around for everything, it's easy now days with google. And just about everyone has some sort of coupon code you can find online too.
I watch sites like backcountry, steel and cheap and camofire for awesome deals and lately Ive made some orders from campsAver.

I don't ever pay full price!

25-30% off is the max you'll see these days and apparently you'll only get the decent coupons if you've bought something in the last xxx (a month or twoish, I'd guess). There are a fair amount of exclusions, including clearance stuff (which I don't think used to be excluded) but the prices are still pretty phenomenal for most stuff relative to the rest of the industry.

Now that you mention it I think 25% off is about the best deal I get emailed anymore. I think though in my case it seems just as good or better. For example I buy smartwool underwear on STP with those bigger 40% off coupons most of the SW stuff never qualified and the prices were jacked up anyway. Now their day to day prices seem lower and although the discounts are less they are still in line with the deals I got before. Also more items qualify for the discounts so I like that better.

I do agree you could occasionally get that one super crazy deal on an item...I think those days are gone unfortunately.

I believe TJMaxx bought them awhile ago.
