I bought this Timberline 4 from a fellow member several years ago, really didn't need it, just wanted it and the price was quite fair. It's about 30 years old, still a good tent but rarely ever gets used. I said most of that to qualify the fact that I don't know a lot about it, so the question is, what is that thing on the vestibule that looks sorta like a short jacket sleeve? Might be handy to know some day.

Yeh, has a draw string so it can be open or closed

I have a recent vintage (4-5 yrs old) TL4 outfitter that seems to be good quality. I've had two of the standard versions over the last 20 years and the outfitter is quite a step above or more.

Maxx, You purchased that tent from me. I have missed the tent ever since. Let me know if you ever want to sell it. That was the second tent I ever owned. I have went through about a dozen since. Just can't find one that rugged, spacious and easy to set up. I hope that you have enjoyed it.

Campmor is buying an entire production run of the Timberline Outfitter 4. Our Scout troop has a large quantity of them ordered. We've found the recent Outfitter models have been fine.

Silly question I'm sure, but why don't you just buy another one?

I would guess its a vent. Snowtrekker tents have these at each end. Would you describe it as a schnozzle?

Yes it is a vent. Similar to the ones on the Snowtrekker and other winter canvas tents.
