If the wife loves the knock off, and the only reasoning you don't is because of sizing. Why not go with a knock off version of the sunset chair?
"Or Similar" version of Sunset
Type 4, 5 or 6
Shipped prices on those two are 39.99 and 32.58. The second one, type 4/5/6 seems to be bigger than the regular chair but a bit smaller than the Sunset.
Ebay search of "BBQ Picnic Chair" yields similar chairs.

gsfisher13, got your email a few days ago. I've sent two replies, but haven't gotten any response from you. I'm assuming you are no longer interested in buying the chair."
I haven't seen any emails in either my inbox or junkmail, weird. I'll send you my phone number via email, call me tomorrow.

Dave" You will enjoy. We have one guy who tried it and refuses so he brings his bigger chair, but going to the Flex Lite has shaved a pile of weight and bulk off of our old geezers basecamp group's gear load.

The Helinox Sunset chair caught my eye when it came out a few years ago, but I just couldn't justify spending $150 for a chair that I will use a handful of times a year at most. I finally got a chance to sit in one at the Midwest Mountaineering event last month. It was extremely comfortable, but way overpriced in my mind. I ordered a clone off of Amazon for $45. It's as nice or nicer than the Sunset. It has ringed feet that won't dig in (without adding tennis balls etc), and then head rest is bent in such a way so that you don't have to lean so far back to make contact with it. I am 6' and 220 and it's plenty stable. The stitching and materials are super high quality. Even if they weren't, I could buy that product almost 3 times over and still break even compared to the original.

Well, I was too late to cancel, but that's ok. It should be an improvement on what I use now, granite & logs!

OK, the REI sale has got me hankering a chair. I bought a "Knock off" on E-bay and the wife loves it. It was like putting a size 12 foot in a size 6 shoe to me, though. I saw this on REI's site and wondered if any of you'all have used it or a similar "Big and Tall" sized chair that you like? Thanks! Helinox Sunset Chair

Well thank you very much, I didn't know they had the larger ones!

My only comment is I bought a Helinox Sunset and a knock off at the same time to see the difference first hand. Long story short there is no comparison in stability and construction. I sent the Chinese chair back as it simply wasn't solid enough to trust for a week plus long trip. Additionally, I will add the Sunset chair weighs right at 3# that is heavy for backcountry tripping IMO.

I have the Sunset and it is a little large and heavy for tripping if your are trying to go ultralight but it is smaller and lighter than what a lot of people bring.

Thank you and BnD for the additional comments! The only chair I've ever taken to the BWCAW is my little folding camp chair stool I used to take to sit on while cooking. Remember those? I left it at a campsite and just always got by using wood and granite. But, we'll try this and see if it's worth portaging in? Trips not for 5 weeks, or I guess 4.5 weeks now? That's my little stool I was talking about:

I've got a Helinox Sunset Chair I'm getting ready to sell. Never used (other than in my living room to try it out). Too much gear and I can't trip anymore due to a weird balance disorder. I'll give you 20%ish off the REI 20% off coupon price = $100 even (plus shipping cost). Send me a message if you are interested.

Got the "Knock off" in the mail today. Much lighter than my regular river chair. Put it together a few times and not too bad. Definitely fits me better than the first one that my wife uses. has widened feet, unlike the first chair. And it went back into it's storage bag without a problem. Over the years, that's been one of my biggest complaints; companies building stuff sacks too small to stuff the gear into after the first use.
