Ive hung my delux food pack by the simple web loop on top, no problems. I posted pics of 5 hangs in 6 days not long ago. I'll look for that thread.

Just wrap another short piece of rope around the pack and attach the main hoist rope to that.

Best way to hang is by the one grab handle at the top of the shoulder straps. If you portaged it in, the strap will hold. Using two ropes or harness will make an area where rain can sit. by the one strap, it will hang so that any rain will shed off.
A bowline knot, or a figure 8 knot with a load bearing carabiner to clip the pack on and off works great.
Opposite the sewing detail, you see on the outside of the pack there is another piece of webbing on the inside of the cloth, so the stress is distributed over a greater area. I prefer to make new packs over repairing stuff.

Does anyone here hang their CCS food pack? We're taking our first trip with one and are a little concerned about hanging it. I'm more worried about microbears than actual bears if we leave it on the ground. My biggest worry is that hanging the pack from its handles will stress the seams too much (we bring a lot of food).

Just an opinion and nothing more. I use a 60 L barrel and a barrel harness. The harness is a respected brand but I'm pretty sure it's not better than a Cooke pack.
