Looking for a good canoe for weekend to 10 day trips. Also looking for a canoe that can handle an evening on a local lake with a young child and maybe even ballast if need be. My wife and I may even enjoy an evening on flat water here and there. We're bigger people. I'm 250# and my wife is 6' 180#. I don't have the luxury of renting quality canoes locally and I probably should buy two separate canoes, but I'd like to dish out the money on a high end canoe before skimping on a second. What say you on the Northwind 17 Black Lite with wood trim? Too tippy for the wife, unloaded? Any other thoughts? I'm in Upper Michigan and within two hours of Lake Superior Provincial Park, 8-10 hours from the BWCA and have some good Lake Superior and smaller portage lakes with minutes to hours in any direction. I've paddle older Bell Northwoods 18.5' and 20' (20.5'?). Thanks in advance... |
