No doubt T Formex is in its infancy. I'm in the market for a boat so I was hoping someone here would have some input. For this boat I guess I'll stick with royalex and think about T Formex for my next boat. "
Royalex was discontinued some years ago, so the only way to get it is NOS or used. I read a review (maybe of an Esquif boat) of T Formex on a big trip, and it was quite positive.

DeuceCoop: "I think it's just a matter of not enough boats in the water yet for there to be any useful user input. Everything I've read compares the material favorably to Royalex which is of course what it's intended to replace, so hopefully it will prove the solution it was conceived to be. I'm sure as more boats are produced, purchased and paddled you'll see more of the feedback you're looking for. I've fondled one or two and they looked fine, but ultimately the jury is still out. I'll be especially interested to see how the material holds up over time. I like Esquif. "

Did a quick search but haven't noticed much discussion of T Formex and how canoes constructed of it perform. Anyone have any thoughts, particularly comparisons to royalex?

I know two folks with new t formex canoes and they like them for what they use them for. They are heavy, although wenonah says they only average 10-15% heavier than FG. I did get to paddle on for a 15 minutes, seemed fine, lines look good not overly blunt. Have not seen a study on efficiency compared to ABS or FG.
Hmmm....
