You get better/more detailing with Voyageur, McKenzie or Fisher maps. However, even those maps can have an error on a campsite or two.

Are the campsites on the Nat Geo Maps accurate or do things change often enough to not trust those? There are a lot of campsites shown on Crooked, but last time through there I don't remember seeing as many as the map shows. Thanks.

Accurate enough to be used as an overview map for planning and dreaming, but pick up the McKenzie or Fisher maps of the particular area traveled for your on-the-water navigation... My experience is that the sites are marked in basically the same general spots.

x2. I use the NG maps as overview maps if I'm not near my large wall map. I rarely try to use it for actual navigation though. Too little detail to do a good job and the others mentioned are great at this.

X3 I have also saved the electronic NG maps to my Gaia GPS app on my Iphone as they are included in the Gaia subscription along with the USGS topos. If I get a little turned around or I am struggling to find a portage a quick location and bearing check using the electronic NG map and Gaia has worked well for me. I always have a Fisher map and compass if needed as well. The paper NG maps tend to stay home and get used for planning.

Thanks for the input. I ordered a McKenzie Map to help with navigation.
