Been lurking a while, my first post on this forum. Anyone have first hand experience with a SMALL Big Agnes Whetstone Shelter as opposed to using a tarp for kitchen/sitting area in addition to your tent of choice. I normally use a two man tent when solo, and also rig a tarp in various configurations especially on a layover day or when making camp early afternoon. The problem with a tarp is having to relocate it as the wind shifts. The small Whetstone seems easy to set up, shift sides, and relocate and is not dependent on tree locations. On coastal Great Lake trips, tree locations can be problematic......as well as wind. Anyone have experience with the SMALL Whetstone? Does a Helinox One chair fit or do you have to sit on the ground (Crazy Creek type chair) At 65 with creeky knees, getting up and down from the ground isn't much fun. Some good prices on the older model (color) right now but still more than I'm willing to risk if it doesn't perform for a solo wind/rain day shelter. Thanks,

It has a peak height of 50 inches. Can you get into a Helinox One chair and sit in under 50 inches? And keep in mind that is peak, so most of it is under 50 inches. You could have an idea of sitting in your current tent with a chair.
I think a traditional tarp would be a better idea if you want to sit in a chair under it.

Looks cool. I had never seen this before but since I usually go with groups, I doubt I would use it. But for solo, it looks super doable.

It seems like added weight, for not too much extra benefit.
Definately a plus that it is free standing, but not enough for me to actually consider it's use.
