Dave,

In answer to on part of your question, I recently placed an order for some dehydrated food through Garage Grown Gear. My order arrived 7 days after I placed the order and I received exactly what I requested. This was my first experience with this company and I was completely satisfied.

Thanks, HH, I'll probably be ordering some food in a couple of months.

Hey all!

As the guy who runs GGG, it was great to stumble across this thread! As Jazzywine, said we are based in St. Paul, and I myself find my way up north most summers to paddle in either the BWCA or the Quetico. I certainly appreciate the conversation and the interest in what we do!

Not trying to be promotional, just figured (given the conversation) i'd say "hey!"

Thanks Boonie. You know how much I enjoy finding new gear makers/suppliers. New and different approaches always interest me.

I have no idea whose business it is, Dave. I have no affiliation with them whatsoever, nor any other knowledge of them. I came across it by way of an email I received from Good-To-Go, a company I have ordered food from in the past. Good-To-Go is one of many companies featured by Garage Grown Gear. I have not purchased anything through Garage Grown Gear, although I have purchased from a couple of the other companies listed besides Good-To-Go. Many people here have purchased from Enlightened Equipment, another of the featured companies, and spoken very highly of them. I thought others would be interested in it and some new companies with which they might be unfamiliar. No more intention of providing free advertising than when I have linked to REI, Cooke Custom Sewing, or dozens of other companies or blogs for the convenience of forum users. If there is nothing of interest to you there, please feel free to ignore it.

Ok, Dave, I see that jazzywine said one of the guys with Garage Grown Gear (GGG) is a friend of his, since he disclosed that.

Just for clarity - I do not know jazzywine any more than I know you. I did not know he was a friend of one of them, any more than I know what relationship, if any, you have to any of them, or anyone else for that matter.

To answer the second part, I have not ordered anything from GGG, nor do I know anyone who has, but I probably will order something. I'll be happy to report on the experience if you are concerned about ordering from them. I have ordered and used/own products from Good-To-Go, Heather's Choice, Kate's Real Food, and Klymit. Enlightened Equipment is not an unknown company here. Hyperlite Mountain Gear is a well-known company also and several others I had heard of, but some I hadn't and thought others here would like to know about them. It seems I was correct.

Yes, this place is great! I've ordered things a few times (Give'r gloves and a Cumulus sleeping bag). Great quality.

Also, part of their operation works from right here in MN!
(Okay, full disclosure: he's a friend of mine.)

I was sure there were at least a couple of gearheads here! Like Happy Huskies, many I'd heard of, but some new ones. I haven't read everything, but I think there are some other ones in the reviews in the magazine.

I have not ordered in the past, but did just place an order through them for some meals from Backpackers Bistro after seeing Boonie's post.
