Ive done the 5 gallon buckets before (No Gamma Lid though) that may be another viable option for the trips (Currently) which are long weekend 2 people.
This summer will be BWCA or a trip North to Wabakami. (8 day float).

I guess that depends on whether you want to go on a journey or a TRIP... 5 gallon buckets with a gamma seal lid are always another option.

If they were a perfect cylinder with those dimensions and I did the math write, then those are pretty close to 20 gallons or 79 liters. A little bit of difference on the radius, as well as the taper and wall width could get them down to 60 liters. But I'd be hard to imagine that they are 30 liters.
And if they are really 20 gallons, they will weigh a ton when filled food.

What they previously contained is key.... I got some barrels for the Scout trip a couple years ago which contained stevia. That washed out easily enough but they were very wide at the bottom, sort of shaped like bullets. They ended up getting donated to the troop for dry food storage at our garage. I picked up a 60L barrel from a different source and it's shaped similarly to these, however it previously contained pharmaceuticals and the inside smell after a couple days of being closed was absolutely horrid. I'm hoping a year or two of UV and weather exposure will help with that, otherwise I'll probably just recycle the barrel. I also got a 10 gallon barrel from the same source as the stinky barrel and it's been awesome, no odor whatsoever.
I guess my point is it's very important to find out what it previously had in them. If it doesn't have a smell when you check it out ask if you might be able to return if there's an odor that develops once it's been sealed for a few days.

Ive got a local guy selling these, the dimensions are stated as 24" Tall, 16" Diameter and he has them listed at 20 Gallons.
Would you call these a 30L Barrel?

A quick conversion chart on a google search shows that 20 Gal is the equivalent of about 75 liters.
The dimensions you give are the same as my 60 liter blue barrel, but these appear to have less taper than at the top and bottom of my barrel.
How much is he asking for them and what did they contain for delivery?
