In royalex they are an awesome downriver expedition canoe. in the BWCA they weigh as much as the Queen Mary.

Does anyone own one of these or have any recommendations about their abilities as a Boundary Waters canoe? I'm looking for a good canoe to haul a lot of gear and can take a beating on the rocks. I'm on the Buffalo in Arkansas and come basecamping in Quetico each year.
Thanks

See if there's a Nova Craft Prospector in the TuffStuff layup around...60# and takes a beating.

No longer have my Tripper but I used it for more than 23 yrs in the BW. So as noted above, if you are young and strong you can easily carry in on a BW trip.

If you are young and strong, its a fine canoe for the BWCA. It is heavy, but it can take a beating and haul a bunch. Plenty folks have tripped in the BWCA with this boat. Its no heavier than an old wood/canvas boat that folks used before aluminum and glass.

You'll be wanting a lighter boat as you age.
